In the course of caring for older individuals, clinicians may encounter cases in which there are conflicts in values between stakeholders or uncertainties about the right thing to do. These conflicts and uncertainties result in ethical dilemmas which can pose challenging questions for all involved. In this reference, the Ethics Committee of the American Geriatrics Society has compiled resources for clinicians to help them think about and respond to ethical dilemmas.
