DESCRIPTION

The Chief Resident Immersion Training in the Care of Older Adults (CRIT) program provides case-based training in geriatrics principles to chief residents, who typically receive minimal exposure to geriatrics during their medical or surgical specialty residency training. Developed at Boston University/Boston Medical Center (BU/BMC), the program is designed to foster institutional collaboration among disciplines to improve care coordination and quality for hospitalized, at-risk older adults, and to develop chief residents’ teaching and leadership skills with an emphasis on medically complex older patients.

This toolkit is developed to help institutions implement the Chief Resident Immersion Training in the Care of Older Adults (CRIT) program. The materials included here are to be used as models for adaptation based on your institution’s individualized needs.
