The mission of the American Geriatrics Society (AGS) is to improve the health, independence, and quality of life of all older people. We see improving the skills and competence of the healthcare workforce as integral to our mission. To that end, we have been working with The John A. Hartford Foundation (JAHF) since 1994, with a particular focus on the surgical and related medical specialties under our AGS Geriatrics-for-Specialists Initiative, and with   the Atlantic Philanthropies—specifically with the Dennis W. Jahnigen Career Development Scholars Program.  Our focus has been on creating geriatrics champions within specialties, developing curricular materials, and (more recently) developing clinical and best-practice guidelines that are focused on older people.  We also have been supporting similar efforts that are focused on internal medical specialties with the  Association of Specialty Professors at the Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine.    We are delighted to offer this compendium of articles related to this work as published in the  Journal of the American Geriatrics Society (JAGS)  and additional journals. These articles are also available in a  JAGS Virtual Issue on this topic.
