Structural racism and ageism are deeply embedded in U.S. healthcare systems, shaping inequities that disproportionately affect older adults from historically marginalized communities. This article examines how these intersecting forms of bias influence access to care, health outcomes, and professional training, and outlines frameworks and strategies to identify and dismantle systemic barriers. Drawing on lessons highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic, it offers a roadmap for creating a more equitable healthcare system through workforce diversity, inclusive policy, and systemic reform.
